The resort, inside its famous MGM Grand Garden Arena, has played host to some of the biggest concerts, boxing, and UFC events over the years.
That strategy didn't pay off as expected and the Wizard of Oz theme was dropped to appease the adult crowd instead. At the time, it was the largest hotel complex in the world and incorporated a 'Wizard of Oz' theme to attract more families to the hotel. MGM Grand opened in 1993 under the company MGM Grand Inc. Not only is the 6,852-room mega resort a fantastic spot for gambling, dining, and catching a world-famous Las Vegas show, it is also home to one of the best poker rooms in town.
